The SMEs contribute significantly to Sri Lanka’s economy by creating employment and supporting GDP growth. Therefore, understanding the impact of the Industry 4.0 transformation on the performance of SMEs in Sri Lanka is highly important. This research is conducted to explore how the transformation of Industry 4.0 technology influences the financial and operational performance of Sri Lankan SMEs, and to examine the influence of factors such as Management IT knowledge, financial support for technology, organisational flexibility, and business competitiveness that facilitate successful transformation. The Maturity Level, RBV, and Contingent Theory were employed in the study. This included a survey questionnaire distributed to a sample of 347 Sri Lankan SMEs across different industries. The data were analysed using SPSS, SEM, and AMOS to validate the conceptual model.
According to the findings, managerial IT knowledge and learning applications are the most significant factors for Industry 4.0 technology adaptation. Furthermore, Financial support and organisational flexibility also have a positive contribution, though with weaker effects. Competitiveness was found to have no significant influence on Industry 4.0 technology adaptation. The results further confirm that Industry 4.0 technology adaptation positively impacts both operational and financial performance. Also, the nature of the business does not influence the digital transformation.

Supply chainsโ digital transformation is more and more challenged by contextual intelligence while advancing on the path to ensure trustworthy customer experience. Recent research findings revealed significant aspects regarding how the pulse of financial growth is both embedding, and aligning customer experience management, as well as the holistic requirement of exploring the impact of Gen AI on phygital customer experience, and the increasing role of the new technology within supply chain operating model. We identified a gap in knowledge with regard to the working together of a supply chain manager and a customer success manager at a small retailer struggling to leverage a supply chain management and marketing roadmap, considering AIโs impact on retail operations from demand forecasting and inventory optimization, on supply chain process and logistics component optimization until hyper-personalization enhancing consumer experiences and driving growth.

Greening the Supply Chains using Generative AI Capabilities to Optimize Transportation Networks
Mihaela ศTEศ
Technical University of Cluj-Napoca
In the current conditions, in which there are global concerns regarding climate change, the pressure to develop sustainable supply chains is higher than ever. This paper explores the transformative potential of generative AI in optimizing transportation networks, a critical component of modern supply chains, and in acceleration the transition to electric vehicles. There are highlighted key capabilities of generative AI in optimal route planning for electric vehicles, optimization of the fleet, freight demand forecasting, vehicle state-of-charge management, optimization of operating costs, integration with energy networks, reduction of emissions and environmental impact. This paper provides insights into the practical applications of AI in this field and demonstrates the tangible benefits that can be achieved using the power of this. By harnessing the power of AI, businesses can not only improve their sustainability but also gain a competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving landscape of transportation.
